Welcome to the
Charter School Service Center’s E-Newsletter. We have been working
hard here at the Service Center and want to do our best to keep you
updated and connected. In an effort to condense emails and keep you
informed, we will be distributing these monthly e-newsletters to
your inbox. We hope you will take the time to read through the
announcements as we have included items we believe that you will
find helpful and pertinent to what’s going on at your schools. We
all have so much to learn from, and share with each other. Work
smarter not harder! Please feel free to forward this to anyone else
you think might be interested. To respond to any of the below items
or to pose a question or concern, please contact Associate Director
Lindsey Brown at

Board
Development Luncheons:
Great leaders make great schools. Great schools make good
students and future members of the Indiana business community. Are
you or someone you know interested in learning more about charter
schools or serving on their boards? In order to inform the community
and to recruit additional board members for new and operating
charter schools, the Service Center is hosting a series of board
development luncheons to be hosted in a few Indiana regions. We will
kick off the series in Indianapolis at 3 local charter schools. The
Indianapolis luncheons will be co-sponsored by the Indianapolis
Chamber of Commerce. Get the word out to potential board members:

Rep. Brian Bosma
House Speaker |

Featuring:
Interview with
Brian Bosma:
LB: What is your position
on charter schools?
BB: As the author of the first Charter School bill
introduced in Indiana in 1992, I am a strong believer in the charter
school movement. I continued to fight with Sen. Theresa
Lubbers, Rep. Bob Behning and others to enact this important school
reform until it was finally adopted in 2001. I strongly
support charter schools and believe that the flexibility and
competition they introduce is one key to education success for the
future.

Easy Money
for your School:
Do you research everything
online? If you do, it’s time to change the way you search for
recipes, sports schedules, news updates, and other countless things…
to benefit your school!
GoodSearch is a Yahoo-powered
search engine with a unique social mission that gives 50% of their
advertising revenue to the nonprofits their users choose. In other
words, next time you are looking for the address of that great
restaurant you’re going to this weekend, type it into
GoodSearch
and 1 cent will go to the nonprofit organization or school of
your choice.
Donors
Choose:
DonorsChoose has been all over
the news in recent weeks, but in case you haven’t heard of it, or if
you’ve heard of it but haven’t acted upon it…now’s your chance!
DonorsChoose
is a simple way to fulfill needs and foster innovation in
our public schools. At
www.DonorsChoose.org, teachers
submit ideas for experiences and materials that their students need
to learn. Any individual can search proposals by areas of interest,
learn about classroom needs, and choose to fund a compelling
project. Once the project is fully funded by an individual or a
variety of sources,
DonorsChoose
buys the supplies and mails them directly to your
classroom.
