GEO Foundation launches Tutoring Program to support newly passed Serve America Act

Organization places a call out to volunteers to assist in effort

INDIANAPOLIS--Students from some of Indianapolis’ toughest neighborhoods will soon have access to a free Tutoring Program provided by the GEO Foundation in support of the recent passage of the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which goes into effect Oct. 1, 2009.

Taking the initiative as an opportunity to push volunteerism, GEO is seeking help of local volunteer organizations, social fellowships, church groups, community leaders, college students and/or retirees who are looking to volunteer their services for a worthy cause.

GEO, which is the sole proprietor Fountain Square Academy and Fall Creek Academy, will provide the tutoring to their predominantly free lunch-qualified students – from some of Indianapolis’ high-crime and low-income neighborhoods – to continue providing its students with a quality education and options to empower educational growth.

The tutoring programs will highlight the following features:

  • One-on-one specialized mentor and tutoring services.
  • Interactive activities to assist students in building their math, reading and
    English learning skills.
  • Quality content, thoughtful discussion and possible field trip opportunities.

Volunteers interested in participating in the tutoring program can fill out the ONLINE APPLICATION, or contact Jeffery White by phone at (317) 713- 4208 or by e-mail at
